You must be a deal and global admin user to set up new pipelines. If you are unsure about which stages to set up, we have tips on setting up stages for your company’s pipelines.
For many companies, there are multiple processes used for sales completion, which is why you can create multiple pipelines for your deals.
To Add a New Pipeline to Your Pipedrive Account
There is currently no limit on the number of pipelines you can add to your account.
-
Go to the pipeline view and click on the pipeline dropdown.
-
Click “+ New pipeline”.
-
The pipeline is then added to your account, and you can now start editing its stages. Once the stages are to your specification, hit “Save”.
When Should I Use Multiple Pipelines?
Using multiple pipelines can be useful in certain situations. For instance:
- Different Product Types: If your company offers different kinds of products that may need their own proprietary stages during the closure of a deal.
- Product and Service Pipelines: If you sell both products and services, where the service could easily have a longer pipeline.
- Pipeline-Specific Custom Fields: To keep your processes and information well categorised.
When It's Not Suggested to Use Multiple Pipelines:
- Categorising by Location or Industry: Use custom fields instead if the stages are the same.
- Separating Deals by Salesperson: This is already done automatically by Pipedrive through the owner field.
- Tracking Delivery of Sold Items: Use the Projects feature instead.
In this way, you will have a chance to see the entire pipeline in one view, but you can also create filters to see any segment of the pipeline that you wish.
It’s not possible to get a combined view of all pipelines, even if the stage names are the same. Within the Pipedrive database, those pipelines and stages are still separated.
For more tips on how to come up with stages for your company, consider the following:
- Use the Past Indefinite Tense: For example, “Meeting Agreed” instead of just “Meeting.”
- Create Stages that Correspond to the Customers’ Buying Process: Consider what has to happen for them to buy from you.
- Revise Your Stages Later: If some stages seem confusing, rename, delete, or add new ones for clarity.
By using multiple pipelines, you can better organise your sales processes and ensure each type of deal is handled appropriately.
