When items in your spreadsheet are not imported correctly into Pipedrive, a skip file is created. This file includes the row where the complication occurred and the reason why. You can download the skip file at any time to review the information on your import.
This article covers errors when importing and skip files. For more general information on how to import data to Pipedrive, refer to this article.
Viewing Your Skip File
To access your skip file:
- Go to "..." (more) on your left side navigation > Import data.
- Click the "Details" option next to one of your completed imports.
- Click the "Download skip file" button.
You will see a breakdown of the imported and skipped items under the details.
When you open your skip file, you will find the reason why the item in your spreadsheet was skipped under the skip reason column. In the additional rows, you will see the data you attempted to import into Pipedrive in their original format.
Reasons Your File Skipped
Here are some common reasons for skips and how to adjust your spreadsheet to successfully import your data on the next attempt.
- Deal title must be given: The deal title could not be autogenerated, and the person or organisation is not mapped, resulting in a missing deal title.
- Name must be given: A name column must be added when importing a person.
- Organisation name must be given: An organisation name field is required when importing an organisation.
- Deal not found: This occurs when the Pipedrive System ID does not exist for a deal in Pipedrive.
- Person not found: This occurs when the Pipedrive System ID does not exist for a person in Pipedrive.
- Organisation not found: This occurs when the Pipedrive System ID does not exist for an organisation in Pipedrive.
- Please provide valid currency: Currencies must be denoted without using special character symbols. Use USD and EUR instead of $ and €.
- Unauthorised access: The import data page URL was provided to a user not authorised to import data. Only admin users or regular users with permission can import data in Pipedrive.
- ID must be an integer: The content of an ID field can only be an integer. If any text is in that field, the import will fail.
Other Importing Errors
-
Mapping errors: When mapping your import, Pipedrive will show errors if required fields are left out, preventing you from proceeding with the import.
-
Bad request: Sometimes internal errors occur within the import function. Double-check your spreadsheet and mapping, and retry the import. If the issue persists, contact our support team for assistance.
